F.D.R. (F*ck Da Rich):
Rumbling along Threads through the Bonobo Tunnel of Love
F.D.R. (F*ck Da Rich):
by Dr. Susan Block.
Between Rightwing Rumble buying up our beloved Callin and META’s mega-“positive” (but not SEX-positive) Threads tying up our formerly beloved Twitter into Musky knots of nastiness, our little Love Train is almost going off the rails.
It’s a bumpy ride, but we stay on track—from the Capitalocene to the Bonobocene—and, as the goal is the journey, we have a fantastic time.
You will too, my darling listener! Here are some highlights…
- There’s hopeful news on the censorship front! Nothing’s definite—and I’m wary of anything these corporate spokespeople say—but an Instagram lawyer has informed our lawyer that IG appears to have committed a grievous error in disabling my account. It seems that a badly programmed META bot assumed that yours truly is an escort (which is against META’s guidelines), whereas I am actually a sex therapist—which is *okay* with them. I support the decriminalization of all consenting adult sex work, but I’m not now—nor have I ever been—an escort. Stay tuned to find out if my wrongfully disabled account(s) are restored, or if I get social-media-suckerpunched once again!
- Chris G. calls in to give another one of his rousing speeches in support of restoring my Facebook, Instagram and YouTube Thanks Chris, and hopefully soon, we will celebrate! Meantime, sign the petititon!
- It’s Disability Pride Awareness Month—as Chris reminds us—which we always support; though having had my social media accounts “disabled,” I’m feeling the solidarity with a particular keenness this year. Chris himself sets an admirable example for other people with autism, and we are so proud of him for his SUZY award-winning activism. Everyone—no matter their so-called “disability”—has something of value to share with the rest of us.
- David, aka “Hybrid Bonobo,” calls in to ask where he can see my 1996 interview about bonobos and other apes with Harvard anthropology professor and author of Demonic Males, Richard Wrangham—which had been on my YouTube channel for 15 years—until YT recently deleted it. Fortunately, unlike some of my videos that were lost forever, thanks to YT’s wrongful termination (which we’re still in the process of fighting), I have a copy of this one on my journal and The Bonobo Way! There’s more about Dr. Wrangham in my “Survival of the Friendliest” interview with his protégé Dr. Brian Hare and the amazing Vanessa Woods. Hybrid Bonobo has more questions, including one about actual hybrid offspring of bonobos and chimps, and another about sexual practices among our prehistoric ancestors that would now be considered taboo. Not much info on the first, but for the second, I highly recommend Dr. Christopher Ryan’s classic Sex at Dawn.
- Brady calls in from his car, dodging road rage and mayhem on his way back from playing drums with a “Jewish Country Music” band, and he has questions about the chemical dangers to your libido of SSRI’s and hormone therapies, not to mention what’s in the air, water and just about every item in your local supermarket.
- It’s my Mom’s birthday during the live 7/8 broadcast, so I give a little tribute to the wonderful artist, teacher, low-key socialist and great interviewer who gave me life and would have been 104, if she were alive.
- RIP John Clark, my old friend (who I met through Toni Grant) and producer of my KIEV radio show, ex-husband of great actress Lynn Redgrave and Dad to Janelle Hopkins’ son Derek Wilder. We certainly had our ups and downs, but mostly good times, and what a character John was, living life “his way” until he was 90.
- Our Vice TV documentary on phone sex therapy, and featuring our Bonoboville Reunion, will premiere August 8. That’s “8/8,” which is a lucky number according to the Chinese. In amateur radio, 88 is used as shorthand for “love and kisses,” like “xo” in numbers. Meantime, check me out in Vice’s Sex Before the Internet.
- “It’s great to be nominated,” goes the old saying, and the Urban X Awards has nominated me for “Most Popular Sex Educator.” If you haven’t already cast your ballot, click here to vote for me.
There’s a Rumble in the Social Media Jungle between Elona Musky’s abused adoptee, Twitter, and Marky Z’s Goody-Two-Shoes brainchild, Threads!
- Rumble, the new Far Right internet channel named for dirty street fighting, has purchased our favorite live radio platform, Callin. What to do? Instead of dwelling on our differences—which are many—Capt’n Max and I focus on our common interest in Free Speech. Indeed, we get into the Belly of the Beast, joining Rumble, and what are the first offerings we encounter? “Trump Live from Vegas” and “Jesus, Guns & Babies.” Time will tell if we’ll soon grumble about Rumble, but for now, we’re trying to be cautiously optimistic.
- Speaking of cyber street-fighting, there’s a Rumble in the Social Media Jungle between Elona Musky’s abused adoptee, Twitter, and Marky Z’s Goody-Two-Shoes brainchild, Threads. We all know what a mess Musk made of Twitter—and it’s getting worse, especially if, like me, you don’t buy Elon’s blood-sucking blue tic. But the Bird is the only major social media site that hasn’t banned me—and it’s always been best for Free Speech on sex-positive topics and images—so I’m still there, albeit shadow-banned and with waning enthusiasm. The new Threads app is more of a mystery, but like 100 million of my fellow suckers, I’m there now too, albeit slightly bored. Is Threads an empty suit? Apparently, the new platform is a no-fly zone for news-and-politics. As CutThePentagon comments: IG CEO, former Facebook news director and Threads co-creator Adam Mosseri’s Zionist leanings may influence his current aversion to political discussions. Threads also seems to be cut from the same erotophobic clothe as IG—relentless self-promoting “positivity” without sex-positivity. Thus far, these Threads look a bit like the Emperor’s New Clothes.
- Whether you’re in cool threads or your birthday suit, we hope you’re having a Bonobo Summer of Love, not a Season of Hate or an Era of Apathy—though don’t give up on politics (the stakes are too high)! Great beach reading: The Bonobo Way (now with over 50 5-star reviews on Amazon), which is more evolution than revolution, as well as conflict resolution via peace through pleasure and female empowerment and male well-being. Make Kink Not War!

Love FDR Radio partly because you do not judge callers. Thanks also to Callin.com for letting you speak freely – as it should be! Next time I will speak up and join the conversation, exercising my right to Free Speech that our Founding Fathers (and Mothers) fought for!

This Rumble conversation reminds me of my favorite meme… “Would you believe me if I told you that the right wing and left wing are part of the same bird?” Dr. Suzy’s FDR Radio Channel on Callin is a place where “Peace through Pleasure” is discussed which I think both sides could learn from. And we all learn from caller Chris G., who’s a real go-getter activist for the greater good. Great show! Go Bonobos!

Sadly, it looks like Threads will miss the valuable lessons of The Bonobo Way by denying sex positivity. Hopefully, they will learn as it will only make their platform better.

Thank you for quantifying and articulating the emotional and logistical roller coaster involving Rumble, Threads, and Twitter on your show. Captivating caller interaction. I sympathize with and enjoy the callers on your shame-free show.

Great show once again! I greatly appreciated the impromptu lesson with Hybrid Bonobo about… bonobos! Bonobos are great models for how we should live our lives – sexually and in general!

What an entanglement! All this social media is making me dizzy. I am not enjoying Threads so far, but Twitter isn’t that much better! Will there be a worthy winner in the the social media rumble? Dr. Suzy, I hope you can get your META account back! Great show!
