“SPLBERG” features Dr. Susan Block in AUDIBLE ORIGINAL
New from Audible:
On Jonathan Taylor Spielberg
July 15, 2026, LOS ANGELES — Award-winning sexologist Dr. Susan Block, aka “Dr. Suzy,” is a featured expert in “SPLBERG,” the “stranger-than-fiction” hit new Audible Original true crime and investigative podcast series chronicling the remarkable real-life story of Jonathan Taylor Spielberg.
“Huge thank you for Dr. Suzy’s brilliant interview,” shares TellTale Audio producer Maddie Drury via email. “Your thoughtful answers about fantasy and fame, as well as discussion about being comfortable with who you are, was really refreshing… It was a genuine pleasure to be in your company.”
Drawing upon her professional background in sex therapy and her firsthand experiences with its main character, Dr. Suzy brings a perspective to “SPLBERG” that no one else can. Her enthralling stories and commentary on Jonathan’s personae, Hollywood and the Spielberg mystique expose the complex relationship between desire, deception, celebrity, identity, masks, crossdressing, consent, fantasy, reality and the universal longing to belong.
A Hollyweird Story
Over 25 years before Jonathan Taylor Spielberg became the subject of a “major hit” Audible Series, he was the focus of widespread controversy at Paul VI, an exclusive Catholic high school in Fairfax, Virginia, where he fooled the whole school into believing that the famous “Jurassic Park” director was his “Uncle Steven.”
It was even earlier, in 1996, just before Dr. Suzy’s “Radio Sex TV” show aired on HBO, that Jonathan Taylor Spielberg, aka “JT,” slid into her studio audience in the Century Wilshire Hotel in West Los Angeles. He struck her as a colorful Hollywood character – a charming, well-dressed young man staying in the hotel with his mother – who presented an extravagant personal mythology to accompany his famous last name.
“We couldn’t Google him back then, but we suspected something,” Dr. Suzy recalls. “Though many Hollywood people used made-up names, and it was part of his persona.
Dr. Suzy interviewed JT on her television show in an episode with other entertainment industry characters called “Hollyweird” broadcast live on KMAX radio and Century Cable TV. Then, they collaborated on an independent film project, a take-off on “Story of O” called “Story of V,” produced by Dr. Suzy’s late husband Max Lobkowicz Filangieri and starring Jonathan Taylor Spielberg.
Take Off the Mask
In the title role of V, Jonathan wears a black miniskirt, pantyhose, his mother’s Gucci high-heeled loafers and Dr. Suzy’s tiger print top. “It was about pretending to be someone you’re not,” she explains. “Then you are unmasked, and it turns out that the character you’re pretending to be is more you than the ‘real’ you.”
In “Story of V,” the impostor is exposed, stripped, thrown into the shower and baptized… a rebirth. Real life was another, more problematic story.
JT had told Dr. Suzy and her crew that he was 18, but when they checked his ID, they saw he was about 25, and for them, it was better that he was really older. But at John VI, a strict Catholic high school where JT was 27 pretending to be 15, it was a much bigger age gap in a far more at-risk setting.
“I kind of think he was waiting for someone to take off the mask, wash off the makeup and say, ‘who are you?’” Dr. Suzy opines in Episode 5 of “SPLBERG.”
However, thanks to the Spielberg mystique, Jonathan’s style and his dupes’ apparent desire to believe him, it took a while – over a year – before anyone did.
Celebrity Nepotism & Constructed Identities
Even now, no one is sure who Jonathan Taylor Spielberg – aka Anoushirvan Fakhran, aka “V” – really is. Though “SPLBERG,” hosted by Emmy-nominated British broadcaster Charlie Webster of “Scamanda” fame, extensively investigates the whole “bizarre” story.
At the center of “SPLBERG” and throughout the series, Dr. Suzy’s voice is there, helping Charlie and her listeners to understand this intriguing true tale of desire and deceit – from Iran to LA to Fairfax, Virginia, by way of Hollywood. “It was an absolute pleasure,” Charlie Webster said via email after their interview, “a powerful conversation.”
Interestingly, JT is not the only Spielberg that Dr. Suzy has interviewed. Steven Spielberg’s adopted daughter Mika Spielberg appeared on The Dr. Susan Block Show in 2020. Of course, Mika’s Spielberg connection is real, and Jonathan’s is part of an elaborate fantasy.
“Americans love a good con artist,” points out Dr. Suzy. “Or even a bad one. Look at the President.”
As a longtime champion of sexual freedom and education for consenting adults and bonobo-inspired “peace through pleasure” at the Dr. Susan Block Institute, Dr. Suzy brings great insight to Jonathan’s audacious trickery, why it captivated so many – and ultimately unraveled – linking his improbable journey to broader cultural themes, from the allure of celebrity nepotism to the immigrant’s drive to assimilate, the modern proliferation of constructed identities on social media and the powerful urge to display versions of ourselves that we hope the world will embrace – or at least, notice.

“Am I morally in the wrong?” Charlie Webster wonders on her Instagram. “Wrong” or just right for the current moment, Audible Originals is going all out for “SPLBERG” with Times Square digital billboards, personal appearances, promotions and reviews in major and social media.
“Completely riveting, sensitive… and ultimately thought-provoking,” writes Nick Levine in the Guardian.

Jonathan Taylor Spielberg looks fabulous in the “Story of V” stills. Life takes us into strange situations, but seriously, what if he had just stayed at the Dr. Susan Block Institute and become a crossdressing fetish therapist instead going to Fairfax, VA and infiltrating that Paul VI school? Obviously, that would have been better… but then Audible wouldn’t have made a #1-rated podcast about him – featuring Dr. Suzy’s brilliant expertise… right?

Dr. Suzy has certainly lived a life of intrigue and adventure, and met more than a few stimulating and baffling characters along the way! Stories like these are what add to the legacy of a life, and what a legacy Dr. Suzy and her beloved Captain Max possess!

Outstanding interview, Dr. Block, and yes, Americans fall easily for con artists, especially of the Hollywood variety – from Ronald Reagan to Donald Trump, the latter’s con artistry so eloquent described in your “Post-Trump Sex Disorder” https://drsusanblock.com/post-trump-sex-disorder

Now Dr. Suzy’s on Audible, so cool! When Capt’n Max passed away, it seems like she sort of went into seclusion (unlike Erika Kirk) for a year. So it’s good to see her doing interviews and weaving stories of Max into whatever subject matter. LOVE WINS every time in Eros & Thanatos Life & Death

The SPLBERG story is kinda like the bridge in Dr. Suzy’s Ballad of Capt’n Max:
“Have you ever fantasized
about such scenes?
Could you realize
the romance of your dreams?
Could you make your ideals real?
Could you help our feelings heal?”

Dr. Suzy is the Real Deal, but she understands the power of fantasy in the Erotic Theater of the Mind, and helps you to express your fantasies safely, so you are less likely to be a dangerous con artist OR a repressed loser. https://drsusanblockinstitute.com/erotic-theater-therapy

Fascinating to hear Dr. Suzy’s journey from founding the Institute to spearheading Bonoboville – meeting up with Jonathan Taylor Spielberg along the way!

Dr. Suzy perfectly sums up the absurdity that we see every day here in the US. I think many Americans subconsciously admire the ability to con people and get away with it.

Those archives are full of so many gems and such wonderful memories. I can only hope that they all survived the moves and were able to digitize sone of the many, many tapes we made at the Flower St. Speakeasy and Erotic Art Gallery there. From that location we moved to a smaller place on Olive in DTLA, Max, by the time we moved was in France during that time, then the next move to the art lofts south of the arts district if I remember correctly. But yes, the old footage is a lot of fun! ♥️
07 · 16 · 26 @ 6:16 pm
Yes Nan, they have survived all the moves so far – but now we have to move again! So hopefully, they will survive again. We are also digitizing all of them, but it is a bit time-consuming! You are in many shows including playing Esther in our Purim show many years ago!
07 · 16 · 26 @ 6:17 pm
thats wonderful news! Im so glad the archives survived and are being put onto another media type so theyre extra safe and more widely available! Lol, the Esther video was fun! Towards the end of the night, I had to go home but I saw footage of Traci and Guero, (Guero recently passed on, I got a message from Traci saying she doesn’t know the details), characters! The Eros day or one of them, I remember we bought a bunch of aphrodisiacs from an herb store in Chinatown, my job, pass them out to guests! And then some of my favorites, the German television crew filming Dr Suzy and the Speakeasy, the Jacquie Stallone episode, our own film crew went to get footage of that as well, Jacquie Stallone was so warm, hilarious and welcoming, at the end when filming was done she spoke to me like an old friend or family member, she told me sone things that indeed came to fruition in the future, and some truths I didn’t want to hear at the time, all the while, so warm and kind. I remember she had 5 poodles, white with dyed pink fur! Her son Frank seemed to watch over everything that day, as we filmed inside of her Santa Monica home, the episode about one of Dr Suzys books, we took my mate at that era (Sikki Nixx/Shawnn) along to e guests on The Cybil Sheppard Show over at NBC studios that morning. Couldn’t bring our own film crew but the show was taped by either Kim or Max, I got a phonecall from the guy at Rebs Pretty Girl International or PGI, his son was running the place by then or mostly anyways, he was watching the show at the office and said everyone looked great and did a nice job! Before only fans etc, PGI called me for internet work and shoots. They were really great people too. Very kind.
I remember having Christmas, Passover, Thanksgiving dinners there at the Flower St. Speakeasy, (that place was HUGE), Russell was with us at that time and I remember when he was trying to put together his own films, one big surprise was the one he starred in, , i remember everyone (our little Speakeasy family were all gathered around to see this video Russell had made, we were not prepared to see what was shown, everyone laughed and much ribbing at Russell because none of us knew what he was packing till we saw him in the nude , we had great times. Im glad to have those memories. Im also both relieved and happy to know that Suzy has some good people in her circle, that shes surrounded by love and people who are supportive, shes still showing up and writing, still lovely as ever, whip smart, and witty af! Much love, peace, health and happiness to Dr.Suzy and everyone whos been there showing support, love and friendship, everyone who helps put together these posts and continued content, contributions.
Best of luck on the move, have a safe, secure move, store the archives in a safe place, no heat or direct sunlight or moisture! I hope the new place is fabulous and all will settle in perfectly!
Lots of love and the biggest hugs from me way over here in the southwestern usa!
Xo

Dr. Suzy always gives great insight and analysis, and this is another great example of that! I love this interview; it really captures Dr. Suzy’s ability to think objectively and really know what’s going on.

This is a Brilliant podcast series! I am left thinking more about this character, Jonathan – who is he? And I want to see the “story of V” video Dr. Suzy made with him!
