All I know is the past few weeks have held such an exciting flurry of activity for me to witness and now to have become part of, ever since I first overheard you mention the word “Zorthian” in passing around Bonoboville. My ears perked up. It was from there my curiosity was piqued and I discovered you and the tech team were dusting off and polishing up your great short film by that name! When I learned of the man and Primaveras, nymphs and of this amazing ranch–Zorthian Ranch–I felt so much joy both because of my own roots on a rare artist & musician farm I’d spent time on in my teens and often miss and because I want a world where more of these environments are created and celebrated …

Once I watched your film I knew a thousand times over what a deep heart and prolific talent you have as well as what a wonderful creative man–and assertively sex positive–your friend Jirayr Zorthian was… I was deeply moved by viewing his story and history and the ranch while he was alive and jumped at the chance to do a Bonoboville Road Trip to this place …

As I said I lived on a Farm not unlike Zorthian Ranch back in the day so I felt so at home in the outdoor eco-art exhibits and spaces in the mountains along with the stage and various indoor galleries and studios … there was a great turn-out and so many festive costumes and activities!!!

I also was among those of the clothing optional site with a fun free spirit and FreeTheNipple activist mind so I loved nude modeling and frolicking around topless throughout the evening amongst fire-eating goddesses, satyrs, nymphs in sheer silky togas with fringe blowing in the breezes caressing their long lithe legs and visible nudeness underneath…

Gee, if I had known the corn was organic I would have had some! I should have asked! Another reason they are so cool over at Zorthian!!! I don’t eat meat so the pig roast was a little difficult for me but appreciated the organic salads …

Dr Suzy, from the response I saw, it’s clear that a lot of people were truly touched by your presence there and how you interviewed among the party-goers, not leaving anyone out. It’s clear as some of the comments already show here, that those who have followed your show for years are indeed watching and appreciating you for your sex positive work worldwide as well as your advocacy for saving the wild bonobos from extinction and last but not least suggesting a world peace movement drawing from bonobo behaviors rather than violent non-solutions…

I personally enjoyed so much being welcomed into the party by Alma and Alan Zorthian … then after dipping into the great pool I meandered down and was welcomed into the nude modeling area where artist’s were happily sketching and photographing us all; I enjoyed dancing topless around the huge bonfire and I also had a chance to go into a very down-home art studio and played the piano as well as taped myself doing my favorite improv in C minor–which I also had learned how to do on the old Farm of Wulf Zendik.

I think that going out as a team and extended family of Block Film & Institute Bonobos was such a blast doing this together! (Thank you Luzer for the styling’ wheels!)… What fun catching such gorgeous footage as your blogpost so aptly paints a verbal picture of, of the drive and the panorama of natural wonder juxtaposed with recycled art and festive beautiful souls… those folks whom I might add welcomed us with such vigor and enthusiasm and love everywhere I went, meant a whole lot to me…

I loved meeting the family who are carrying on this legacy and how they were asking for suggestions from everyone to create a wish tree for the ranch activities … I also bought a tee shirt so I can snuggle up in my Zorthian tee with a cup of tea and watch your film again and again–until next year??? :)

Thank you Dr Suzy for your film and Alan Zorthian for continuing the tradition–and in so doing you each in your own way share this important history. The film and the event are both part of an encouragement and example of a very accessible way of life and alternative to the rat race or daily grind as well as deeply part of honoring the legacy of Jirayr Zorthian … gosh I never met him but I love him.

    Love you,
    Chelsea Raw

Wow! What a night of joy and celebration! I’m sorry I didn’t get to meet Zorthian himself but feel as if I did through your wonderful film and the continued community that honors his memory and contribution to erotic art. All good things come out of Yale eh?

You keep his fires burning. Long Live Zorthian!

Hey Dr. Suzy, it was great meeting you at the ranch after watching you on TV for so many years. I was a young kid when I first watched your show and now there you were in real life. Thank you so much for the love you shared with your viewers, it’s made such a difference in my life. On behalf of myself and my class mates, we love you! (There were a lot of us watching)

Way cool. You really know how to celebrate May and the retreat of winter/return of the sun — in so many ways! A bunch (45) of the Monkeys gathered last night for a Full Moon/Beltane bash/sauna party up in Portland. Nice warm night — no cold issues being naked outside for the first time since Fall — certain sign of Summer returning to the NW. (then again, us impatient Monkeys have been swimming in the mountain lakes already!)

Wow, after watching the documentary, reading about Jirayr Zorthian and visiting the ranch I must say you really document an avant-garde artist. I don’t know what the Premaveras at the ranch were like before but I am very glad that that tradition has carried on, even in its current form– so many people were brought together. Great documentary.
