I thought of you, Dr. Suzy, when the great Jane Goodall recently passed on. If there was one other person in the world who taught us as much as she did about our simian cousins, and how much WE can learn from THEM, it was you.

Honored to read that Dr. Jane Goodall loved The Bonobo Way (shared by Dr. Suzy) — a beautiful meeting of minds committed to great ape conservation. Her legacy reminds us that curiosity, compassion, and persistence can change how we relate to the natural world. #JaneGoodall #GoBonobos

So many of us who have never heard the name Jane Goodall are moved by her legacy of compassion and dedication to understanding chimpanzees. She completely transformed the way we view animals and our relationship with the natural world. She didn’t just observe them; she immersed herself in their lives, showing us that intelligence and emotion aren’t just human traits, not to mention her advocacy for conservation and animal rights. That kind of impact is immeasurable, and her work will undoubtedly inspire future generations. It’s wonderful that you were bonded to her by a mutual interest in curiosity and advocacy.

RIP Jane Goodall: she was such a great inspiration to me when I was growing up! I learned about zoology in high school, fueled by this inspiration. Jane Goodall also gave me a vision of how a woman can be a leader and expert in her field. I wanted to be just like her.

Indeed this is a leap in the pursuit of peace, and a great honor Dr. Block. I too am inspired by Dr. Goodall’s ecological activism, and have been for many years. You both have helped shaped my views of our great ape cousins through your books, digital media, and lectures/talks.

The preservation of both chimpanzees and bonobos is dependent on the conservation of their natural habitat, and Drs. Goodall are Block are the great ape champions of our time.

All around, this is wonderful news and I’m quite delighted to know that she loved the book.
