I was touched and honored to receive this email yesterday from the assistant to one of my heroes, the great primatologist Dr. Jane Goodall:
Dear Dr. Block,
My name is Christopher Hildreth, Dr. Goodall’s outreach coordinator. While Dr. Goodall was recently in town, I shared your book, The Bonobo Way, with her and she loved it. Although she is currently traveling for her North American Spring Tour, she certainly plans to read the book in it’s entirety once the tour is over.

Indeed this is a leap in the pursuit of peace, and a great honor Dr. Block. I too am inspired by Dr. Goodall’s ecological activism, and have been for many years. You both have helped shaped my views of our great ape cousins through your books, digital media, and lectures/talks.
The preservation of both chimpanzees and bonobos is dependent on the conservation of their natural habitat, and Drs. Goodall are Block are the great ape champions of our time.
All around, this is wonderful news and I’m quite delighted to know that she loved the book.
