The general public is just beginning to learn about and consider the transgender community which is very diverse in mindsets, body imaging, lifestyles and surgical procedures. We are just two years into the implications of the DCM-5 more respectful and lessening of tough diagnostic conclusions as to transsexuals. Shows like “Transparent” may be humorous and only a sample of the transgender community which like the rest of society is one person at a time, but it gives insights for the non-transgender community as well as the transgender community. Therefore it is very important in establishing a better tolerance and compassion.

What a wonderful report on the DGA. Norman Lear is a favorite of mine.

I love gender neutral bath/rest rooms, and agree that we need more stools and fewer urinals. If more men sat to do their business, there would be fewer men quite so full of shit…. Side benefit….

This is so intriguing! I’ve spent the past few days watching videos and trailers all over the internet on this huge hit and sea change of a film… I’ve hesitated to speak here lest I don’t know enough about the content…and in this case still am not sure if it’s a movie or a TV series… so there you have it.
Nonetheless, the key component whether it’s a film or TV or both is that it WILL indeed change lives and similar to the work at the Block Institute (which goes on around the clock and the phones are open now 310.568.0066 for anything you need to talk about!) save lives due to bringing the marginalized and oppressed into the limelight to foster greater acceptance and desensitize the rampant xenophobia in our world…
I loved getting to meet and be around Luzer Twersky while a resident therapist and bonobo at the Institute and now I see what this is all about!
I loved LOVED the trailer and am excited to see more. I enjoyed seeing Norman Lear interviewed by Oprah during my research so far and Jill Soloway on the Ellen Degeneres show as well interviewed regarding this cutting edge top of the game work!!!
Knowing that partly Captain Max and Dr Suzy are what supported Twersky to be in this and continue his artistic pursuits bursts my heart with joy…

I’m from the old country, don’t really understand any of this problem. There are people who want to dress like women (many little boys do), there are women who want to be men, there are people who are confused, there are men that love men and women that love women. People are wonderful, different and we are all humans who seek our place in society. Putin and the crazies from all religions who want to tell us how to dress or who to love are from a sad barbarian time. Feel pity for them…
