Jesus spoke the following words the night before he died when He was observing the Passover with the twelve Apostles: He took the unleavened bread, blessed it and said, “This is My body which will be given up for you.” Likewise He took the chalice filled with wine and said, “This is my blood. It will be shed for you and for the forgiveness of sins. Do this in memory of Me.”

The next day when He was hung on the Cross, He spoke these words as some of the onlookers mocked Him: “Father forgive them for they know not what they do.” Also that day two thieves were crucified with Him. The one on His left said, “If you are really the Messiah, why don’t you save us!” The one on His right rebuked him saying, “Don’t you even fear God! After all we are receiving just punishment for our crimes, but this man has done nothing wrong.” The Good Thief then looked at Jesus and said, “Lord remember me when you come into your kingdom.” Jesus replied, “Today you will be with Me in paradise.”

Finally Jesus said, “My God, My God, why have you forsaken Me!” Jesus then bowed His head, exhaled His last breath and died.
