I had met Susan Block and Captain Max about 10 years ago. Found both to be delightful souls. Dr Susan helped me resolve some critical issues/threads and Captain Max was this really down to earth, friendly and sincere person.
I had a short car drive together with Captain Max & got the distinct impression that he was one of those people who have a lifetime of stories and adventures to tell and share with others.
Too bad I couldn’t spend more time. One of my regrets is that I won’t be able to meet him again next time when I visit Dr Susan.

I’m so sorry for your loss! Those words seem so shallow and empty to express one’s sympathy.

I just finished reading the beautiful obituary that you wrote of Max’s extraordinary life which brought tears to my eyes.

In our last telephone conversation, when I told you that we were on a death watch for my brother Bob, who had been bedridden for nine months, you tried to give me hope by telling me the following:

You told me when you were in the hospital in 2006, and Max was visiting you, he went down to the cafeteria to get something to eat. While he was eating, an angel appeared and told him that you would recover from your near death experience.

I also recall you telling me in one of our many therapy sessions, that Max believed that you and he would be reunited in the hereafter. I know that you have your doubts about that, but I believe that you will see him, touch him, and hear Max’s baritone voice again.

This life is a struggle much of the time, but if one has faith, hope, and love those struggles can be overcome. (I’m not telling you anything you don’t already know.)

Max and you overcame many hardships during your 35 years of being in love. I wish that I had found such a love in my life.

I feel privileged to have met Max in this life time. The highest compliment that I can give to him is this: Max you are a man’s man!

Susan, I will continue to pray for you, and keep you in my thoughts while you go through this time of mourning and great personal loss.

Aunty just told me about the passing of Captain Max. My condolences and if there is a heaven out there, I am sure he is now strolling and giving others a tour fo the place with his own style. I think it was 9 years back when I met both of you. Although I had spent more time with you, I recall captain Max riding with me and guiding me through the streets to reach your place. Even with the little time I had spent with him, I know he is one of those people who you always want as a sincere friend and I can fathom your pain and loss of such a beautiful person from your life. I just hope I had spent more time with him when he offered to give me a tour of your place, but I had to hurry for another meeting onwards. My trip to USA and LA kept getting postponed due to a variety of reasons but I always had meeting you and captain Max again on my to-do-list.
