Hello Dr. Block, I just came across your article and it’s terrific! I had come across the repulsive Laura on the radio occasionally and didn’t know much about her (or her son). I know she lives in Santa Barbara (my area). Anyway you really hit the nail on the head– thanks for clarifying this for me– I felt she was pretty terrible but I didn’t know the extent of it– wow!I dig your style.

Ha! It doesn’t surprise me, I read her unauthorized biography a few years ago after hearing her on the radio once. True the the People Magazine people wrote the book but I am sure they didn’t have to make up too much stuff about here. It was pretty interesting and made me wonder who she was fooling, but people line up every day to call her & probably think she is the greatest. Sometimes we forget that outside of the bubble of LA there are some pretty lost people who loved to be lead around.

Well there is another attempted entertainer the jeff foxworthy crew specficly larry the cable guy . Well this Minstreal show against working class people are also bush supporters .It is Concidence people who do not think much of working class people are bush supporters . Well with laws being dis mantled that protect the worker envoroment the consumer and efforts to out sorce jobs to other countries how could real blue collar people be bush supporters ? This Minstral was was attempting to say how unfairly dick cheney was treated by the media . Well I am sorry this AL Johnson for blue collar folks had reality check bounce because any body else would have been in jail for shooting in an inbriated state of mind . I guess MR cheney at least never fails to leave up to his name.

What have we learned from your excellent blog piece and ‘Dr.’ Laura? That the American Christian Taliban is not only scandalous moralizing hypocrites, but also disastrous role models for youth. Dear Jennifer, (see Jennifer’s letter above)First let me say that it was not Dr. Block who said her son was in the special forces it was Dr. Laura. In fact we don’t really know what he does in the military, at one point she said he was in the Marines. Then I would like to add a terrible story. My mother fell in love with a German captian who one day while cleaning his gun shot her by accident. That was around 1944. Now this kid playing with a gun shows he has no respect for himself or fellow soldiers or the military, the mission or worse yet, no repect for a weapon. We can’t be responsible for the way our kids turn out but I also think that using your child for your own selfish reasons is the worse kind of child abuse. “I am my kid’s mother”? Terrific piece! MOTHER routinely puts out wrong info. Jennifer, where are the facts? I don’t even know he’s a paratrooper? On his and friends websites, it said “weapons specialist”. He looks like a gunner. I wish the military would speak up. They are responsible if they are silent and complicit for these two making everyone else look bad. Alot of people are sick of the pretend Dr and have been wondering why the military let her bring them down. Sad when military trusts a con. If they cover up for a terrorist we’re all in trouble. Wonkette reported the Pentagon already had evidence “cleansed” from MySpace and Google. MySpace, owned by Newscorp, affiliated with Fox, I’ve heard? It would be good to have more facts and thank you for letting the public see his face. She’s kept him out of published pictures. He’s likely to be back incognito.

I am certainly not an anti-gun person, but nutcases and firearms go together like heavy drinking and driving. You do not play with firearm in such a matter that you are a danger to yourself and others. Thanks for the article. I have always wondered why so many people are spellbound with Dr. Laura. She is rude, arrogant and her advice it often way off the mark, IMO. However, I do feel sorry for anyone having to go through an ordeal like this with his/her child. I sincerely hope he can find the help he apparently needs…..and I hope Dr. Laura will be heard less and less on America’s airwaves.
