Personally, I think religion is a hell of a lot more frightening than sexuality, whether the supernatural realm exists or not. From the crusades to the witch hunts to the inquistions to the teleevangelists on the religious right to the insane aslyum in the middle east, it’s a program of massive fear. Religion is scary enough, even if you’re an agnostic and just believe it’s all a fantasy. If you actually believe in it, it gets worse. Then you’ve got a pretty scary, arrogant, spiteful god that not only refuses prove his existence, but never lets you know what he wants or what he plans to do. He is powerhungry, sadistic and pychotic. Than you have the religious adversary (the devil, the nonbeliever), so that god can have something blame.

If only Congressman Mark Foley had you as a sex therapist, he probably would have been able to channel his lust for scary sex into something less dangerous and less harmful to minors than what he was doing. You probably would have helped him come out of the closet as a gay man in a dignified way. Of course, then he would have had to become a Democrat, but that would have been a lot better than this rip-roaring scandal.
