Bonobos grieve and even mourn their lovers and friends when they die, as Dr. Suzy points out in her book. Bonobos are known for “making love” but they are not just into casual sex (though they like that too)!. As someone who had the profound privilege of working alongside Captain Max for more than two decades, your writing in “Bottomless Grief & Topless Cake” resonated deeply with every memory I hold dear of him.
Max was the backbone of so many of our shared missions and creative ventures. I still recall how he could organize the most chaotic production and lift spirits with a single, knowing glance. That mischievous spark in his eyes—so beautifully captured in that unforgettable cake-on-top-of-Rhiannon’s-chest shot from November 5, 2016—was pure Max: fearless, playful, and alive with uncontainable joy.
Reading how grief physically constricted your breath, sending you into the ER, brings so much of what you’re feeling into stark relief. It’s a testament to the depth of your love—and to how profoundly Max’s absence is felt not just in your heart but in every cell of your being.

Max and Dr. Suzy have lived the life that most people either dream about or see in movies. Be it a birthday party with a cake on a sexy topless girl to producing shows seen by millions of people all around the world, they never fail to be fabulous.

Not to mention they have met and continue to meet amazing people and artists like Rhiannon Aarons.
