The
Story of Eros & Psyche
Poor Psyche! Now that she's seen his divine face, she's really, head over heels in love with Eros, and now she's lost him! She searches the Earth, looking for Eros. Search, Psyche! Search for Eros thru the crowd! "Have you seen my Eros?" she asks everyone who will listen. "Have you seen my Love?" But no one helps her. They just laugh at her, they push her around and take advantage of her vulnerability. And she cannot find Eros anywhere.
No longer with Eros, now Psyche is haunted by Thanatos. Thanatos, being Death, tries to seduce our Psyche into committing suicide. The sweet silence of death is tempting to one so emotionally distressed, so guilt-ridden, so humiliated and so exhausted as our Psyche. But Psyche will not die. She fights off the seductions of Thanatos, still holding out hope that she will find her Eros again. Finally, she finds him in the temple of his mother, Venus. The Love Goddess. The ultimate nasty mother-in-law. Prostrate yourself, Psyche! This is the Goddess of Sex!
Eros is there in Venus' temple, sulking in Mommy's house. But Venus does not allow poor Psyche to see him. After all, Venus is still jealous. What insolence of this human girl to not only act like a Goddess and steal Venus' adoration, but then to go on & steal the heart of Eros, her own son? What a bad, bad girl Psyche has been. "Well, at least now you're where you belong, groveling at my feet," Venus says "That's the proper place for a slut like you. On your knees, you little piece of human trash. You tramp! You slut! You whore! You want Love in your life?" "Yes!" whimpers Psyche. "I want Love! I love Eros!"
"Well," replies Venus, savoring her divine position in relation to her former rival, a beautiful girl, but still a mere mortal. "Then you must become my Sex Slave. If you want to see Eros, you must work hard for the privilege. You must kiss my feet…. You must serve my pleasure as my Slave-Girl. You must bow down and serve your Goddess. And you must be punished for your insolence, for your ignorance and for being such a bad bad girl."
Now we come to a very special portion of our Commedia Erotica Passion Play: The Three Tortures of Psyche! Also called the Erotic Passion of Psyche. Since this divine passion is far too deep to be contained in one person, Psyche's sisters must share in her punishment. After all, in their jealousy, they were the ones who coaxed Psyche into being such a bad girl. So the Three Sisters comprise the Three Tortures of Psyche.
But there's a definite bright side: if they take their punishments, if they learn to serve and perform and give pleasure to others, if they succeed in surrendering fully to the Gods and Goddesses of Love and Sex and Life itself, they will find redemption, and they will become Gods and Goddesses too.
Watching Psyche take her punishment, Venus' heart softens, she stops feeling jealous, and she falls in love with Psyche too. The dominant often does fall in love with her submissive.
